Kerala Chief Minister Pinarayi Vijayan on Tuesday said in a move apparently encouraging everyone to be fully immunized, free treatment will not be given to those who do not follow COVID-19 prevention measures such as vaccination. Will go

According to a release issued by the state government, the Chief Minister said in a Covid review meeting that the government would not pay for the treatment of those who turn positive for Covid without receiving the vaccine.

He said that those who are unable to get vaccinated due to diseases, allergies etc., should produce a certificate from a government doctor.

He further said that the health department has been directed to conduct a special vaccination campaign in the state from December 1 to 15 and district collectors have been asked to prepare for it.

The CM also said that teachers and staff of educational institutions who have not taken both doses of the vaccine due to any disease or allergy will have to produce a government doctor’s certificate or they should get vaccinated before taking classes.

If they do not get vaccinated, they will have to get a negative RT-PCR test done every week at their own expense, he said and added that these instructions are being issued to ensure the safety of students going back to school and colleges.

According to the release, in the meeting, he said that these instructions will also be applicable to the employees working in offices and public places.

Earlier in the day, state education minister V Shivankutty said that no teacher who has not been vaccinated will not be allowed to enter the campus and will have to conduct online classes.

He said the norms cannot be relaxed for a small percentage of teachers and they will have to produce a doctor’s certificate if they have any disease or allergy that prevents them from being vaccinated.

According to the release, in the review meeting, Mr. Vijayan also said that the representatives of local self-government institutions will have to make serious efforts to ensure that everyone gets both doses of the vaccine.

He also said that children with disabilities will be allowed to attend schools, with no change in school timings for now and no further concessions given the change in situation – reports a new coronavirus edition called Omicron.

The release said that in view of the new form of corona virus, he has directed to strengthen vigilance in the state including strict checking of travel history of foreigners and ensuring adherence to the COVID protocol without any lapse.
