No inspection of new vehicles for first time registration: RTO

In view of the amendment in the rules of Motor Vehicles Act, 1988, the Transport Department has said that there is no need for physical inspection of new vehicles for first time registration.

The department has said in a press release that a system has been brought in to ensure that the fully built vehicles purchased through authorized dealers are inspected by vehicle inspectors without taking them to the RTO.

Dealers can file an online application on the VAHAN-4 portal and pay the applicable fees and taxes to the RTO concerned, the release said.

After receiving the online application, the concerned authorities approve for the registration and the registration number is allotted online itself.
