No move to hike milk prices in Karnataka: Cooperative Minister

He said that the cooperative milk unions in the districts are free to take decisions on increasing the purchase price on the basis of their profit.

Cooperation Minister ST Somashekar has said that the Karnataka government has no proposal to increase the price of milk. He said that the cooperative milk unions in the districts are free to take a decision on increasing the purchase price on the basis of their profit and the government will not interfere in the decision taken by the unions.

Speaking to reporters in Mysore, Minister in-charge of Mysore district, Mr. Somashekar categorically stated that the government is not in favor of increasing the price of milk.

He also clarified that there will be no early assembly elections in Karnataka, as is being speculated.

Regarding the preparations for the Yoga Day, the Minister said that Mysuru MP Pratap Simha has invited Prime Minister Narendra Modi to participate in the International Yoga Day, a yoga center, in Mysuru in June this year.

“The people of Mysore and yoga enthusiasts will be very happy if the Prime Minister comes to Mysore for the International Day of Yoga. On behalf of the people of Mysore, we will ensure a grand welcome to Mr Modi on the big day,” he said.
