The dispute involving the two unions – Nandini and Amul – started recently, after Amul announced that it would be supplying its milk variants to Bengaluru.

Amidst the Nandini vs Amul battle in Karnataka, Gujarat Chief Minister Bhupendra Patel on Monday asserted that there was no need to boycott Amul in the southern state.

The dispute involving the two unions – Nandini and Amul – began recently after Amul announced that it would be supplying its milk variants to Bengaluru.

In my view, there is no need to boycott Amul. Keep doing what you want to do. If Amul is snatching something then it is a matter of protest.

The opposition Congress and Janata Dal (Secular) in Karnataka have alleged that the ruling Bharatiya Janata Party (BJP) wants to “kill” Nandini by allowing Amul in the southern state.

He has also expressed apprehension that a shortage of Nandini products will be created to make way for Amul’s takeover.

However, the Basavaraj Bommai-led BJP government in Karnataka has denied the allegation and said that there is no threat to Nandini from Amul.

Talking to reporters here, Patel also said that Surat has good town-planning schemes.

Noting that there has been an increase in the demand for water and power in the city, he said that they are moving towards renewable energy to meet the power demands.

“Water is equally important for people and commercial activities. We have to see what else we can do.

He also said that Gujarat is moving towards natural farming.

“During Covid and post-Covid, we have seen how people in the age group of 40 to 50 years are going for full body check-ups as diseases like cancer and diabetes are on the rise. Earlier people used to think about full body checkup after the age of 50. Similarly, chemicals are spoiling the health of the land.

Describing natural farming as the way forward, he said that even though the opposition parties are raising questions about farming, no farmer has any complaint.

Farmers are not supporting them. They (opposition parties) can say anything,” the chief minister said.
