No problem with Annamalai, alliance with BJP continues: AIADMK general secretary Edappadi Palaniswami

Palaniswami on Thursday, April 27, 2023 said that there is no issue between the party and BJP state president Annamalai and the alliance between the two parties continues.

Speaking to reporters in New Delhi on Thursday, Mr Palaniswami also questioned Chief Minister MK Stalin’s silence on the two issues. Audio clip purported to be of the finance minister’s voice Palnivel Thiaga Rajan.

“Mr. Rajan has said that both the audio clips are not authentic. The allegations made in the clip are serious. His belated response to the clip raises doubts,” Mr. Palaniswami said.

He also said that the AIADMK has brought the issue to the notice of Mr Shah and urged the Center to probe the clip and bring out the truth.

Mr Palaniswami termed his meeting with Mr Shah and BJP President JP Nadda on April 26 as a courtesy call. This was his first meeting after being elected as the AIADMK general secretary.

Mr Palaniswami also clarified that the recent report of the Comptroller and Auditor General of India (CAG) tabled in the Assembly did not point out any wrongdoing under the AIADMK rule.

The CAG has only pointed out the non-utilisation of funds. Due to the time of Kovid, we could not spend the funds. He said that there was nothing wrong with the tender being issued.

Mr Palaniswami said the CAG has pointed out that the DMK government has not utilized more than Rs 28,000 crore allocated in the budget in 2021-22.
