‘No punch’: Spanish media react to Barcelona’s El Clasico defeat by ‘Lethal’ Real Madrid

The Spanish press was not kind to Barcelona as they reviewed El Clasico’s home defeat at the hands of Real Madrid on Sunday. While some publications labeled the Barca team ‘impotent’ in their match reports, others credited ‘deadly’ Real Madrid for delivering the first punch of the season. Reacting to the defeat of the Catalan giants, the Barcelona-based newspaper Mundo Deportivo put a picture of a disappointed Memphis Depay in its cover page and wrote, “No punch.”

Mundo Deportivo also shared his cover page on his official Instagram page.

Another Barcelona daily, Sport, in its Monday edition called the side ‘impotent’, criticizing their performance against bitter rivals.

However, AS’s headline was in favor of Real as their front page read ‘Madrid Roars’.

Marca also praised Real Madrid’s squad and called them ‘deadly’ for defeating Barcelona in their den – Nou Camp.

On Sunday, Real Madrid moved up to second place in the La Liga table after a 2-1 win over Barcelona. Real’s Spanish defender David Alaba broke the deadlock with a stunner in the 32nd minute. Lucas Vazquez then doubled Real’s lead by scoring a goal in the second half of stoppage time. However, in the seventh minute of injury time, Sergio Aguero pulled Braca back once with the first goal. However, this was not enough as Ronald Koeman’s favor fell on Carlo Ancelotti’s outfit.

After this defeat, Barca have slipped to seventh place in the table with only 15 points after nine rounds of play.

After the match, Barca supporters were also seen flocking around Koman on their way out of the stadium. While most fans were seen taking selfies with Koman, some were seen grooving to the bonnet of the car. Barca also condemned the incident, saying “disciplinary measures” would be taken against those responsible.
