Hyderabad:

Telangana Chief Minister K Chandrashekhar Rao, popularly known as KCR, underwent a medical check-up in Hyderabad on Friday after he complained of weakness and other minor health problems. Doctors said there was no cause for alarm.

Mr Rao, 68, complained of weakness and pain in his left arm and doctors at Yashoda Hospital, including his personal physician MV Rao, conducted a preliminary examination.

The doctor said that doctors advised KCR to go for preventive check-up as he was to have an annual health check-up.

A cardiologist said a coronary angiogram was done at the hospital and there were no problems.

He said the MRI was done to look at the pain in the arm and it showed mild changes which are common to all people of his age. KCR’s personal doctor said that it was felt that the pain could be due to the habit of reading a lot of newspapers and using the iPad.

The weakness is due to his tours and speeches, he said.

Mr Rao is suffering from diabetes and blood pressure, but he is under control, he said.

The doctor told that KCR has been advised rest for a week. Mr. Rao later left for home.

Meanwhile, Telangana Governor Tamilisai Soundararajan expressed concern over Rao’s health and prayed for his good health.

He tweeted, “Excited to hear the news of Hon’ble Chief Minister Shri KCR Garu going to the hospital with minor symptoms. Pray for his good health and speedy recovery.”

State BJP President and MP Bandi Sanjay Kumar also wished the Chief Minister a long and healthy life.

“It is alarming to learn that Hon’ble Chief Minister Shri Chandrashekhar Rao Garu is unwell.

“I wholeheartedly pray to Maa Durga for her speedy recovery and blessings for a long, healthy life,” Mr Kumar tweeted.
