A day after allegations surfaced of a Delhi government school student asking a teacher to remove the hijab, Deputy Chief Minister Manish Sisodia on Thursday said the government has not imposed any such ban.

“In Delhi, schools have a good system of teaching students. But an attempt is being made to give a political color to the matter. Students of all religions and castes are treated with respect in our schools. There are no restrictions and everyone’s traditions are respected,” Mr Sisodia said during a press conference.

“I also inquired about the incident, but so far I don’t think anybody has any problem.”

There was a case in which a teacher said something… but the government and the education system take care of every student,” Mr Sisodia said.
