No transgender has applied for vacancies in HC, says registrar

The Madras High Court on Tuesday closed a PIL after it was informed that as per a recruitment notification issued by it in March this year, no transgender had applied for the posts of office assistant, chhobdar etc. in the high court administration. did.

The First Division Bench of Chief Justice Sanjib Banerjee and Justice PD Audikesvalu took note of the submission made by the Registrar (Recruitment) that the notification had clarified that transgender persons would be entitled to apply against the vacancies for which applications were invited.

It was also informed that transgender candidates who do not have community certificate will be considered under quota for Most Backward Classes (MBC). They were also provided with the option of identifying themselves as male, female or a third gender. Still no one applied.

After recording the submissions, the judges disposed of the present PIL without affecting the right of petitioner Grace Bano Ganesan to file another case seeking reservation for transgender persons in future appointments.
