Referring to the Lakhimpur Kheri violence, Attorney General KK Venugopal told the Supreme Court on Monday that an “unfortunate incident” took place and protests against agricultural laws must now stop. To this, the top court said that when such incidents happen, no one takes responsibility. Venugopal told a bench headed by Justice AM Khanwilkar, “Large number of petitions (against three agricultural laws) have been filed. An unfortunate incident happened in Lakhimpur Kheri. Such incidents should not happen. The protests should stop.”
