Noida Twin Towers demolition today, preparations in final stage: 10 facts

With few hours left for the demolition of Supertech Twin Towers in Noida, officials are conducting final checks on explosives and other arrangements. Demolition will take place at 2.30 pm.

  1. Project officials said more than 3,700 kg of explosives have been placed around the twin towers and are attached. Today the final check of the connection is being done.

  2. The only work left now is to interconnect the twin towers and lay a 100 meter long cable from the structures to the explorer. The blast is where the demolition will begin on Sunday.

  3. Mumbai-based company Edifice Engineering has been tasked with the demolition of two towers following a Supreme Court order, which found their construction within the Emerald Court Society premises in violation of norms.

  4. In the surrounding society, people have started coming out with their belongings. Around 5,000 residents of Emerald Court and adjoining ATS Village societies have been asked to step out for a day till 7 am on Sunday.

  5. The cables from the blast to the illegal twin towers 100 meters high will be laid only after 7 am tomorrow, when all the surrounding societies will be evacuated.

  6. “Once all the teams are down from the buildings, the two buildings Apex and Cayenne have to be interconnected. Then a 100-metre-long cable will be run from the towers to the Exploder to demolish the buildings,” said Edphis Engineering’s project Manager Mayur Mehta said.

  7. Roads leading to the Twin Towers in Noida Sector 93A will have diversion from Sunday morning while the Noida-Greater Noida Expressway.

  8. Noida Police has deputed over 400 personnel who will be posted near the Twin Towers tomorrow.

  9. Teams from the National Disaster Response Force and the Provincial Armed Forces of Uttar Pradesh will also be on the spot for any emergent situation.

  10. Noida Authority CEO Ritu Maheshwari said that all arrangements are being made to clear the dust from the area after the demolition. He said that apart from the cleaning personnel, mechanical sweeping machines, anti-smog guns and water sprinklers would also be installed at the site.
