Noida Twin Towers Timeline: The Rise and Fall of Supertech’s Ambitious Project

The Supreme Court has ordered that the tallest structure in India, the Noida Twin Towers, be destroyed on August 28. A structure higher than Qutub Minar will be brought down with explosives weighing at least 3,700 kg.

In the next two-three days, the explosive wires installed on every floor will be dismantled. Explosives have been kept inside the Twin Towers during the last two weeks. The task will be completed in nine seconds.

Uday (2004-2006)

In 2004, Supertech Limited received a piece of land in Sector 93A from the New Okhla Industrial Development Authority (Noida) for the development of a housing society, which later came to be known as Emerald Court.

In June 2005, in accordance with the New Okhla Industrial Development Area Building Regulations and Directions 1986, the Authority approved the building plan for construction of 14 floors on June 20, 2005.

The company was given approval to build a total of 14 towers, each with ten storeys and a maximum height of 37 metres. In June 2006, Supertech was given more land for building construction under similar conditions.

Rift (2009-2014)

In 2012, the total number of floors for Apex and Cayenne increased to 40. According to Supertech, it fell under the Noida construction requirements of 2010. The Residents Welfare Association (RWA) moved to the Allahabad High Court by the end of 2012. The UP Apartment Owners Act, 2010 was allegedly violated by Twin Towers.

In addition, a garden-designated spot in the original brochure was allegedly encroached upon by the Twin Towers. The landlords claimed that the buildings were erected with less than 16 meters between them in violation of the law.

In 2014, the Allahabad High Court ordered the demolition of the Noida Twin Towers. It asked Supertech to pay 14% interest on the money returned to the home buyers. Additionally, the court asked the Twin Towers to be sealed

Fall (2021-2022)

In August 2021, the Supreme Court upheld the decision of the Allahabad High Court and ordered the demolition of the structures, saying they were built in violation of the rules. The apex court’s conclusion led to several applications from home buyers in favor and against the Allahabad High Court’s decision.

Noida authorities informed the Supreme Court in February 2022 that demolition work had begun and was expected to be finished by May 22. However, the deadline for demolition of the Supertech Twin buildings was extended till August 28 by the apex court.

The Supreme Court has said that August 28 can be retained as the date of demolition, with “bandwidth of seven days” between August 29 and September 4 for any minor lag caused by weather or technical difficulties. can be adjusted.
