Nokia’s new subscription service wants you to stay green – Times of India

Nokia Want users to keep using their phone more than usual. HMD GlobalThe company that licenses to manufacture and sell Nokia phones has launched a new subscription service, circularRewarding customers with some green credentials to keep their phones from ending up in landfills.
With Circular, Nokia will reward its users with Echo-Points or, as the company likes to call it, “tomorrow’s seedsThe longer a user keeps his phone with him, the more credits he earns, and uses it to support various causes such as planting trees, cleaning rivers or donating phones to those in need. A win-win situation for all, says Nokia.
“We are taking full responsibility for the entire lifecycle of our phones,” says Florian SeichCEO of HMD Global. ,
How much would you pay for a subscription service?
Subscriptions cost between €12 and €30 per month, depending on which phone you want, and there is also a one-time setup fee of €30 on each phone. One can choose any one of the four phones – Nokia G60 5G, Nokia X30 5G, Nokia XR 20 and Nokia T10.
You don’t have to pay full price for the phone; You only need to pay the monthly subscription cost, and Nokia leases the phone to you. If you don’t like your chosen phone, you can get another one. However, there are some charges involved, which reduce as you use your phone. If you ask for a change after one year, you’ll have to pay half of that fee, and no change after the third year. In addition, if you damage the phone or it is stolen, Nokia will also replace it.
Once the user replaces the phone with another model or the subscription expires, the company refurbishes the phone and reuses or recycles it. Nokia says it will donate phones that are more than three years old but in working condition to people who can’t afford one.
Initially, this circular will be available to customers in the UK and Germany. We don’t know if the service will be made available in India, but Nokia says it plans to expand the service to other markets in the future.
