Nominations of two candidates for AIFF President’s post canceled after complaints of rigging

Based on the complaint, the returning officer asked Khemani to confirm whether he had supported Valanka’s nomination. Khemani, in his email the same day, said that his name was used by Valanka without his knowledge and that he had not signed the nomination papers of any of the candidates, indicating that the signatures were obtained fraudulently.

Chandigarh Football Association’s authorized representative Harjinder Singh also informed the Returning Officer that he has not proposed or supported the name of Manvendra Singh for the post of President.

In a notification, Returning Officer Umesh Sinha said, “Keeping in view the fact that the aforesaid supporters for the said nomination are not legally valid, the nominations of Manvendra Singh and Valanka Natasha Alemao are not acceptable and accordingly their candidature for the post of President is not acceptable.” The nomination is rejected.” on Sunday.

When contacted Manvendra Singh said, his candidature was initially supported by Kosaraju, but then “it was found that he had already signed someone else’s form and he (Kosaraju) could not sign my form.” “. The Returning Officer in his notification on Sunday said that, as per the draft constitution of the AIFF, “no person shall be eligible to nominate more than one candidate as proposer or seconder for the same post and if he so his signature on the nomination papers given to the Returning Officer at the second place in time shall be deemed to be inoperative.

Since Lyngdoh’s nomination was received after Athenpa had already filed his nomination papers, Lyngdoh’s nomination was accepted and Lyngdoh’s second nomination was rejected.

In a similar case, a Mohan Lal had proposed the names of Lalnginglowa Hamar and Deepak Sharma for the post of executive committee members. But since Sharma’s nomination was received after Hamar filed his nomination papers, the earlier candidature was rejected.

Five candidates – charismatic footballers Bhaichung Bhutia, Shaji Prabhakaran, Kalyan Choubey, NA Haris and Ajit Banerjee – have thrown their hats on for the President’s post, while six nominations have been received for the Treasurer’s post. A total of 11 candidates are in the fray for the posts of Executive Committee members.
