Not Islamically valid…: New controversy has arisen regarding Swara Bhaskar’s marriage

An Islamic scholar’s comment calling Bollywood actress Swara Bhaskar’s marriage to Samajwadi Party leader Fahad Ahmed as ‘un-Islamic’ has sparked a controversy on social media, with critics calling it sexist and anti-women.

Chicago-based Islamic scholar Yasir Nadeem Al Wajidi said on Twitter, “If Swara Bhaskar is not Muslim and her ‘alleged’ husband is Muslim, then this marriage is not Islamically valid. Allah says polytheist women should not be married until until they believe. 2:221 If she accepts Islam only for marriage, it is not acceptable to Allah.

The comment sparked a new controversy as many people criticized the comment. Famous RJ Saima defended Swara-Fahadh’s marriage questioning Wajidi’s opinion. RJ Seema wrote to the scholar, “Your quoting Quran was correct but you gave an unsolicited advice. Did Swara or Fahad ask you? We should stop imposing and let people be. Allah will not ask you. ‘Niyat ‘ is. A pillar of Islam and you seem suspicious. This is a disservice to Islam. I hope you realize it.”

“My tweets were not about personal choice. They were about normalization of sins. You accept that my citation of the Quran was correct, therefore this marriage was a sin performed in public,” Dr. Yasir wrote.

“And who are you? Someone designated by Allah to judge others? We are answerable to Allah and Allah alone. To each his own. Unless someone asks for your opinion, keep to yourselves. And be a good Muslim,” RJ Saima hit back.

“I am the person that liberals like you hate the most. I am the person who often exposes the false interpretation of Islam by people like you. I am the person who will speak up when RJs interpret Islam Will start. You keep yourself entertained.” Leave Islam to business and experts,” Dr Yasir wrote.

“Swara Bhaskar’s legal, but non-Islamic marriage is an opportunity for us to remind our fellow Muslims to stop normalizing what they have forbidden. The Quran is clear, for a Muslim man to be an idolater from a woman It is not permissible to marry.” Free choice is not so free,” he said.

As Swara announces, he makes a note for the Special Marriage Act which allows marriages irrespective of the faith of the parties.
