Capt Amarinder said he would quit Congress as he was “totally humiliated”

Former Punjab Chief Minister Amarinder Singh on Thursday clarified that he is not joining the speculations. Bharatiya Janata Party (BJP) but said they have no intention of continuing here Congress, which he said was going downhill with complete disregard for senior leaders.

Captain Amarinder said he would leave the Congress as he was “utterly humiliated” and did not believe him.

“I will resign… will not be in the Congress party,” he said, adding that he was still thinking of his options in the interest of Punjab, whose security was a prime priority for him.

Capt Amarinder Singh resigned as chief minister After accusing the Congress of humiliating him on 18 September.

“I will not be treated with such disrespect… I will not take such insults,” he said. He said that his principles and beliefs do not allow him to be in Congress anymore.

Describing senior Congressmen as critical thinkers about the future of the party, the former Chief Minister said that the youth leadership should be encouraged to implement the schemes which senior leaders are best equipped to prepare.

“Unfortunately, the seniors were being completely sidelined,” he said in a statement. Capt Amarinder Singh said that this is not good for the party.

Captain Amarinder Singh also condemned the attack on Kapil Sibal’s house by Congress workers simply because Mr. Sibal had chosen to express views that were not favorable to the party leadership.

Expressing hope that Punjab will vote for the future of the state, he said that his experience shows that the people of the state vote for only one party/force, irrespective of the number of parties in the fray.

Stating that the misrule in Punjab would give Pakistan an opportunity to create trouble in the state and the country, he said his meeting with NSA Ajit Doval this morning focused on this issue.

Captain Amarinder Singh raised the issue of farmers as well as security concerns during his meeting with Home Minister Amit Shah on Wednesday.
