Hindi writers are getting bookers. Movies from all over the world are being dubbed in Hindi. All the websites and big companies are now working in Hindi as well. Hindi market is getting bigger on internet. Translations are being done continuously in Hindi. Hindi books are also being translated into English. reflected in Hindi. People have a book published, they get more than one award. Apart from English, Hindi and Chinese are being said to be growing languages. So it is a matter of joy and pride that the world is feeling the threat of Hindi, accepting its power.
But even in the midst of this pride and intimidation, the wretchedness of people like me did not wake up. Some vague doubts and questions remain with them, which can upset people who are intoxicated by this glittering language.
For example, is it a matter of understanding what a language does? Is it the weapon that conquers the world? What is that instrument of power on the basis of which governance is done? Is it just a poem-story or a literature book?
Language does many things. Hindi has created these fake writers. This language has not only given me employment, it has not even given me the pleasure of possessing it, it has created me. Its ethnic memory has fed me. My forefathers are speaking in my language. It has absorbed many dialects and tug of war of Akashdeep and has developed a form of its own.
But today’s Hindi, which is proud of its spread, is continuously moving away from this ethnic memory. That is a memoryless Hindi that is being used in the media. Although the grammar of Hindi has been liberal and it has adopted many words from other galaxies while recognizing foreign words, but in recent times Hindi has been made an absolute spectacle. The group of English words included in the name of making Hindi easy and easy to mark has reached the danger level of typing. Gradually, not only the vocabulary of English, even its sentence-structure is dominating our mass media. Just because of some words and verbs, we consider it as Hindi.
By the way, there is another interesting aspect of this purism of Hindi. Many people have become advocates of excluding the word of Urdu-that is, of Arabic-Persian origin- from pure Hindi. They feel that texts with similar words to Hindi should be ignored. Consciously, he has Sanskrit parents and he has a Hindi son – this son is being enchanted, so it is necessary that he should keep taking power from Sanskrit words. But between Sanskrit and Hindi there are many generations of the galaxy – Prakrit, Pali, Awadhi, Braj and other folk languages, Urdu has a touch – they forget this. Rather, the relationship between Hindi and Urdu is so interdependent that both can become lifeless if one is attached to the other.
But the matter is not just about hiding or using some words, how has our Hindi survived as the language of a society? His characterization in mainstream Hindi is consistently communal language, with the upper-caste egoists involved. She is afraid of English and tries to be like English. Of course, there are many varieties of Hindi outside this mainstream Hindi as well. Certainly there is a Hindi in the world of literature and culture which is rich as well as sensitive. Poetry is being written globally and very important works are being done. Sometimes there is pride in this Hindi. Apart from this, many voices of Hindi margin are also useful. The Dalits and the first generation of Dalit community who went to school-college, are now writing their pain in Hindi only. It is anti-market in its character, anti-communal as well, it is progressive and syncretic. But it is a minority Hindi.
So the annual being celebrated is for the expansion of Hindi, not for the depth of Hindi. Those people who reflect the dream of a strong India with a strong Hindi, do not understand that there is a difference between strength and panic. Being of a certain country, language and society are very common that we have to live up to. As far as Hindi is concerned, it is spreading as a language of entertainment and not as a language of knowledge. If it has real expansion, then National or International Hindi Day will be made.
