NRIs have made their mark all over the world: PM Modi

The prime minister was received at the airport shortly after his plane landed in Washington on 22 September, and later at the hotel where he interacted with community members.

Prime Minister Narendra Modi Appreciated the Indian Diaspora for making a mark across the world as they were warmly welcomed by the community upon his arrival Here.

Soon after his plane landed here on Wednesday and later at the hotel where he interacted with community members, he was received at the airport by groups of Indian-Americans.

“Grateful to the Indian community for the warm welcome to Washington DC. Our diaspora is our strength,” Mr Modi said in a tweet along with a set of photographs from his interactions with the Indian American CEO.

Mr Modi said, “It is commendable how the Indian diaspora has made a mark across the world.”

However, due to the current COVID-19 situation, the Prime Minister is unlikely to have a large gathering or meeting with the diaspora.

Earlier, the Prime Minister was received by TH Brian McCain, Deputy Secretary of State for Management and Resources on behalf of the Government of the United States of America.

According to a press release from the Ministry of External Affairs, members of the Overseas Indian were also present at Andrews Airbase and they welcomed the Prime Minister with joy.
