NTA may announce JEE (Main), NEET-UG, CUCET entrance exam dates next week

According to a report in PTI, the National Testing Agency is likely to announce the schedule of entrance exams including JEE (Main), NEET-UG and CUCET next week.

“The Medical Advisory Council of the National Medical Commission held a meeting with the National Testing Agency (NTA) last week. The schedule for the three entrance exams is likely to be announced next week.”

NTA will conduct multiple admissions from April 2022, including two JEE (Main) for admission to engineering and architecture programmes, NEET-UG for medical and allied courses and a common entrance test for admission to central universities.

Last year, the NEET-UG exam was conducted on September 12, in which more than 95 percent of the registered candidates appeared for the medical entrance exam.

Over 15.44 lakh candidates had appeared for the exam, which was conducted in 2021 across 3,858 centers in 13 languages. More than 8.70 lakh candidates had qualified the exam.

Last year, the Joint Entrance Examination (JEE)-Main was conducted four times in a year to give students flexibility and a chance to improve their scores. The first phase was conducted in February and the second in March. The next phases were scheduled for April and May, but they were postponed in view of the second wave of the COVID-19 pandemic. The remaining two phases were held last August and September.

However, this year, JEE-Main exam is likely to be conducted twice, in which the merit list will be decided on the basis of best of two marks.
