Nutritionists list kitchen-inspired beauty hacks for wedding season

The Great Indian Wedding season is one of celebration. Don’t forget the wide spread of greasy, oily and spicy flavourful food. From Golgappas and Chole Bhature to Gulab Jamun and ice cream, it’s hard to resist yourself from indulging in these delicious dishes, isn’t it? While these delicacies take our taste buds on a joy ride, excessive consumption leads to health issues, the symptoms of which are first visible on our skin.

Skin is the largest organ of our body, and also a barrier that protects us from microbes and the external environment. According to nutritionist Lavneet Batra, “Your skin is a mirror of your overall health. There can be no compromise on a healthy, balanced and diverse gut microbiome to keep you healthy.”

Here are diet tips for healthy skin:

for puffy eyes

To get rid of puffy eyes, apply frozen cucumber slices on your eyes for 10 minutes. You can also replace it with frozen beetroot slices or frozen green tea bags.

for bloating

Lovneet Batra recommends drinking lemon-ginger water 30 minutes after a meal to avoid flatulence. Water infused with coriander seeds also works wonders for bloating. Soak some coriander seeds in water overnight, filter them in the morning and swallow them. Also avoid carbonated drinks.

for constipation

It is difficult to keep a tab while enjoying the delicious dishes spread at weddings. Oily, spicy and greasy food can often lead to stomach problems, constipation being one of them. A small bowl of curd and flaxseeds (roasted and powdered) can keep the gut healthy. You can also drink 30ml Amla juice Mixing in a glass of water first thing in the morning.

to fatigue

If you feel tired, the first thing that Lovneet Batra lists is to “schedule sleep.” Make sure you get 7-8 hours of sleep to wake up fresh. Regular exercise is necessary. “Take out at least 20 minutes for exercise and include foods like bananas, sprouts, salads, nuts, oats, coconut water in the diet,” he added.

For shine:

This wedding season, all we need is a glowing skin. One fruit that can help achieve that eye-catching glow is the pomegranate. The nutritionist pointed out that the high level of Vitamin C in the fruit helps in achieving healthy and glowing skin.
