Odisha allows cultural activities as COVID-19 situation improves

After a significant improvement in COVID-19 Situation, the Odisha government has allowed cultural activities like opera, open air theater and street plays.

The state has been reporting less than 300 COVID-19 cases for the past nine days and active cases in six districts have remained in single digits. There is no active case in Keonjhar district.

Special Relief Commissioner PK Jena said in an order to this effect that cultural events such as orchestra, theater and dance programs have been allowed with compliance to the COVID-19 protocol.

It has been clarified that not more than 2,000 people can gather at one place and the seating arrangement will have to be maintained at a distance of six feet from each other. Organizers have been asked to create facility for online booking of tickets.

For indoor halls, the number of spectators should not exceed 50% of the seating capacity. People who have received both doses of vaccine within 72 hours from the ceremony and have received the final vaccination certificate or rapid antigen test results will be allowed to attend the ceremony.

District magistrates or municipal commissioners have been empowered to take the final decision keeping in view the local situation.

A total of 10,46,559 positive cases have been reported in the state while 8,389 people have succumbed to the disease. The state’s test positivity rate is estimated at 0.43%. Barring Khordha and Mayurbhanj, TPR remained below 1% in all districts. No new cases were reported in 11 out of 30 districts on Saturday.
