More than 12,000 people have already availed the service for Re 1 ‘one rupee’ clinic over a period of more than one year.
Ramchandani said, two faculties of IIM-Lucknow, Professor, N. Reddy and Prof. Satya Bhushan Das Jointly studying the management of ‘One-Rupee’ clinic. He announced to study on the day I was awarded ‘Pravasi Oriya Samman’ in New Delhi on 24th April this year. The study will cover how I am managing my clinic along with my job and family commitments, facilities in the clinic, whether it is a pharmacy, challenges of running a clinic, funding and many other aspects related to managing the clinic . He has already discussed the first round with me in this regard. Ramchandani said that if needed, Burla would also come to study.
Ramchandani said, they are studying to find out how the clinic is running by taking only 1 rupee from the patient. He said the objective behind the study is to find a way out on how to provide healthcare to the poor at an affordable cost.
The doctor has also started giving medicine to poor patients at Re 1 from February 12, 2022, when ‘One Rupee’ clinic completed one year.
Ramchandani said, it is not possible to give every medicine to all the patients. However, I do give some medicines, which are needed by poor patients for a rupee. Many people are coming forward to contribute to the ‘one rupee’ clinic for the treatment of poor patients. I am using this money to buy medicines for the poor. He said that even the faculties of IIM-Lucknow asked me about the medicine for Re 1 when they discussed the first round with me.
