Odisha train accident: PM Modi says ‘painful incident, guilty will be punished’

Prime Minister Narendra Modi assured on Saturday that the government would leave no stone unturned to help victims of a horrific three train crash in Odisha. Having visited the crash site and met with some of the injured passengers he also said that those found guilty would be ‘punished stringently’.

“It’s a painful incident. Government will leave no stone unturned for the treatment of those injured. It’s a serious incident, instructions issued for probe from every angle. Those found guilty will be punished stringently. Railway is working towards track restoration. I met the injured victims,” he said.

 

The three-way accident involved Bengaluru-Howrah Superfast Express, the Coromandel Express and goods train on three separate tracks at Bahanaga Bazar Station in Odisha’s Balasore district. According to Odisha Government’s Special Relief Commissioner’s office 17 coaches of the two trains had derailed and severely damaged.
