The Government of India’s RTO website – VAHAN – has recently updated the sales data of all vehicles revealing some interesting news in the electric two-wheeler space. By registration numbers, Okinawa Autotech sold the highest number of electric two-wheelers in India in H1 2022, specifically between January 1 and July 9, 2022. Okinawa Autotech sold 49,196 units in the period, 3,372 units more than Hero. Electric, which was earlier the leading electric two-wheeler manufacturer in India, sold 45,824 units in the same period.

With the increasing hype – good or bad – Ola Electric also made a comeback in strong numbers, slipping to the third position in terms of total units sold. The SoftBank-backed electric scooter maker has so far sold 43,099 units in 2022. Meanwhile, the Ampere sold 35,090 units in the same period, ranking at number four.

Despite being renowned for its great performing electric scooters, Ather Energy surprisingly sold only 16,390 electric scooters in a span of 6 months, suggesting that the EV maker has many more to pull in the same numbers as its rivals. There is scope for improvement on the front. Ather was followed by Pur Energy, which sold 9,774 units in electric two-wheeler sales between January 1 and July 9, 2022, beating TVS Motor (9,497), Revolt (8,994) and Bajaj (7,919).
