New Delhi: IndiGo on Sunday said it will cancel around 20 per cent of its flights operated by the Omron variant due to the rise in Covid cases and waiving conversion charges till March 31 in response to customer needs.
The change fee is paid by a passenger for switching to a different flight date.
In a press release, the airline said that due to the rising number of infections, a large number of IndiGo customers are changing their travel plans.
“Responding to the needs of the customers, IndiGo is waiving change charges and offering free change for all new and existing bookings made up to January 31, for flights up to March 31, 2022,” it noted.
The budget carrier said it would selectively withdraw some flights from service with low demand.
“We estimate that approximately 20 percent of our current scheduled operations will be withdrawn from service.”
“Where possible, cancellations of flights will be made at least 72 hours in advance and customers will be moved to the next available flight and will also be able to change their travel through the use of Plan B (section) on our website, “It noted.
The airline encouraged customers to switch to digital channels as call centers are handling large volume of calls.
