Omicron is here: These 5 states in India have reported new Covid cases

India’s Omron Covid-19 tally continues to rise. With fresh cases being reported from Rajasthan, Maharashtra and Delhi on Sunday. The tally in the country has increased to 21.

17 more cases have been reported in India Omron’s version of COVID-19 On Sunday – nine persons in Rajasthan’s capital Jaipur, seven in Maharashtra’s Pune district and one fully immunized person who reached Delhi from Tanzania.

Most of those who tested positive had either recently come from African countries or were in contact with such people. With this, four states and the national capital have now reported cases of a potentially more infectious form, prompting a fresh worldwide alert.

the first two cases of Omron in India There were reports from Karnataka last week. The other two cases were detected in Gujarat and Maharashtra.

Omicrons, first detected in South Africa on 25 November, have been described by the WHO as “a type of concern”.

New travel rules amid Omicron fears

International airports across India are thoroughly screening and testing all passengers from ‘at risk’ countries. As per the central guidelines, all passengers from such countries will have to undergo RT-PCR test on arrival. The test result must be negative to exit the airport. The list of countries deemed “at risk” for now includes the United Kingdom, all 44 countries in Europe, South Africa, Brazil, Bangladesh, Botswana, China, Mauritius, New Zealand, Zimbabwe, Singapore, Hong Kong and Israel.

India registered 8,895 new covid cases on Sunday

India reported 8,895 new Covid cases and 2,796 deaths in the last 24 hours, according to health ministry data released on Sunday morning. Bihar had the highest daily death toll with 2,426 fatalities.
