Omicron scare: Will UPTET be postponed again?

Uttar Pradesh Teacher Eligibility Test (UPTET) Scheduled to be held on January 23, however, due to Omicron’s rising cases, it may be postponed once again. 13.52 lakh and 8.93 lakh candidates have registered for UPTET primary level exam and upper primary level exam respectively.

Amidst the spread of new COVID-19 cases, it can be a big challenge for the UP government and the exam regulatory authority to conduct the UPTET with utmost safety and caution for the candidates as well as the examinees.

On December 26, around 59 cases were reported in UP, of which 17 were reported from Lucknow and 16 from Ghaziabad. In view of Omicron fear, many restrictions including night curfew and Section 144 have been reimposed in many states across the country. So far, the Omron variant has been reported by 17 States/UTs.

Earlier UPTET 2021 was to be held on November 28, but it was postponed due to paper leak. Question paper was found floating on WhatsApp groups and many people have been arrested in this case. After this it was announced on 22nd December that UPTET 2021 will be conducted on 23rd January 2022.

As per the latest update, Admit card will be issued on January 12, Candidates with old admit card will not be allowed to enter the examination hall. Post the exam, the interim answer key will be released on January 27. Candidates should note that the last date to raise objections on the interim answer key is February 1. The final answer key will be released on February 23, followed by February 25. , result will be declared.

According to sources some exam centers for UPTET 2021 will also be changed. A meeting was held by the state government in this regard. Meanwhile, the office of the Exam Regulatory Authority has started the preparation to conduct the exam again. UP CM Yogi Adityanath had earlier said that free travel would be provided to the candidates after showing their admit cards.
