New Delhi:

As Congress leaders were detained during a protest in Delhi today, a video showed Youth Congress chief BV Srinivas manhandling and pulling his hair by the police.

“They hit me. They pulled my hair,” shouted Srinivas. Earlier, he was heard shouting when a policeman dragged him by the hair. A policeman was seen pushing him into the car.

The video was shared by several Congress leaders, who condemned the brutal crackdown on the protesters.

Delhi Police said that it will take action against its personnel seen in the video.

“We are trying to identify the employees. After identification, disciplinary action will be initiated against the employees,” an official was quoted as saying by news agency ANI.

Congress MP Rahul Gandhi, who is leading the protest, was among the party leaders who were detained and taken to the police station.

He was also opposing the inquiry of Congress President Sonia Gandhi by the Enforcement Directorate in the National Herald case and other issues like price rise, GST and unemployment.

Congress leaders had gathered on a major road near Parliament to march to Rashtrapati Bhavan.

They were detained and tied to buses by a large contingent of policemen.

Rahul Gandhi stood on the road, surrounded by policemen, for some time before he was taken into custody and boarded a bus with other detained Congress leaders.
