People exit a subway train in New York’s Brooklyn subway

New Delhi:

Several people were shot in a subway today in Brooklyn, New York. One of the many videos of the attack on social media shows the moment the attack took place.

In this video, many people are seen running out of the metro coach filled with thick smoke.

Local media reports said the suspect used a smoke canister to distract the passengers before shooting them, as can be seen in the video.

RT News tweeted that the passengers exited the coach “with the gunman wearing a gasmask”.

In the span of a minute, the entire coach becomes empty as people panicked. Once they are on stage, some of them are seen falling to the floor. Then there is blood everywhere. The smoke coming out of the coach spreads over the entire platform.

At least 13 people were injured in the mob firing. Local officials said “several unexploded devices” were recovered amid the chaotic scenes.

The White House said President Joe Biden has been informed of the incident and is in contact with New York officials.

New York Governor Cathy Hochul tweeted that first responders were on the scene and promised regular updates as the investigation unfolds.
