A terrorist was killed by security forces during an encounter on Sunday at Shahpur in Poonch district of Jammu and Kashmir.

“One terrorist was killed and two others were injured in an operation by the Indian Army in Shahpur,” the officials said.

Defense PRO informed through a statement that earlier in the day, Army foiled a major infiltration bid along the Line of Control (LoC) in Poonch sector.

According to the statement, on the intervening night of April 8-9, army personnel deployed along the Line of Control in Poonch sector of Jammu and Kashmir detected suspicious movement of some persons.

“These men were challenged by the Indian Army personnel on their side of the LoC, close to the fence. On being apprehended, in subsequent operations, a dead body was seen and other intruders fled into the jungle,” the defense statement said. Went.” Added.

Earlier in March, the Army had foiled an infiltration bid along the LoC in Tangdhar sector in a joint operation with the Jammu and Kashmir Police and killed a terrorist.

“Based on reliable inputs received from intelligence agencies about possible infiltration of terrorists, a series of strikes were carried out in Tangdhar sector on the intervening night of March 23-24,” a defense release said.

Over 200 AK rifle rounds, three magazines, two Chinese-made grenades and medicines and eatables were recovered from the spot.
