Sudhanshu Pandey, Secretary, Food and Public Distribution Department, said during a press conference on October 22 that the prices of onions are lower than last year. “Central government intervention with state government to cool commodity prices is much faster than in other countries. International crude oil prices have increased due to labor problems in Indonesia, Malaysia. Prices in India have not gone up because of the intervention,” said Sudhanshu Pandey. He further said, ‘Compared to last year, the prices of onions are low. We have not seen an extraordinary rise in onion prices. We do not see a scenario of restricting the export of onions.
