Orissa’s ‘Beach of Flowers’ enthralls the internet, forest officer shares beautiful pictures

These pictures have been clicked at Puri’s Golden Beach and Neeladri Beach.

From stunning landscapes to beautiful water bodies, India is a land full of natural beauty. There is something wonderful to add to the cumulative beauty of every part of this country, every region and every nook and corner. And many IAS and IFS officers, through their informative posts, do an amazing job of showcasing this beauty to the social media users. In a recent post by Indian Forest Service officer Sushant Nanda, users get a glimpse of the flower-covered beaches of Puri, Odisha. On Monday, Mr Nanda, who often shares fascinating clips from across India, posted two beautiful pictures of the seashore in Odisha.

Mr Nanda captioned the pictures and wrote, “‘Beach of Flowers’. The cleanest and most serene beaches in Puri have two stretches- Golden and Niladri. Proceed to the Valley of Flowers… Natural Sand Dunes Puri Kind of blossomed.”

Pictures show the pink flowers known as beach morning glory, which cover sand beaches against a backdrop of calm skies. The funnel-shaped pink flowers look pretty with the green foliage, to say the least. Across the distance, one can see the ocean and its waves hitting the shore. According to Mr Nanda’s post, these pictures have been clicked at Puri’s Golden Beach and Neeladri Beach.

According to the Florida Wildflower Foundation, the bright pink flowers, known as Beach Morning Glory, are commonly seen growing wild on sandy beaches at the highest water marks. As the name suggests, these flowers bloom in the morning and fade and close by noon. It is adapted to coastal areas where sand is plentiful and the soil is well-draining.

According to Golden Beach of Puri, Odisha Tourism Received the coveted Blue Flag certification in 2020. A highly respected and recognized eco-label worldwide, Blue Flag certification is awarded when a beach meets a range of stringent environmental, educational, safety-related and accessibility-related criteria.
