A 14-year-old tribal girl student was kidnapped and murdered on suspicion of being raped, police said on Tuesday.
When the school-going teenager did not return home on Monday morning, her worried parents started searching for her and with the help of relatives and locals, they found her dead in a nearby forest. Immediately he informed the police.
After a preliminary investigation, police said they have identified a suspect and are searching for a young man. It is alleged that he abducted the girl in a car, raped her and then killed her.
There is resentment and tension in Udhagamandalam due to the suspected rape and murder of the teenager.
