Over 25 crore e-KYC transactions done using Aadhaar in September

New Delhi: Over 25 crore e-KYC transactions were done using Aadhaar in September, which is about 7.7 per cent higher than the levels seen in August, according to an official release. An e-KYC transaction is done with the explicit consent of the Aadhaar holder, and eliminates the need for physical paperwork, and personal verification for Know Your Customer (KYC).

“In September alone, 25.25 crore e-KYC transactions were done through Aadhaar, an increase of about 7.7 per cent in such transactions as compared to August,” the release said.

The cumulative number of e-KYC transactions through Aadhaar so far has increased to 1,297.93 crore as of the end of September.

Aadhaar Enabled Payment System (AEPS) has also been instrumental in financial inclusion, the release said.

“A total of 1,549.84 crore final banking transactions have been made possible through the network of AEPS and micro ATMs till the end of September 2022. In September alone, 21.03 crore AEPS transactions were done across India,” it said.

In September, 175.41 crore authentication transactions were done through Aadhaar.

“During the month of September, residents successfully updated over 1.62 crore Aadhaars as against 1.46 crore updates done in August,” it said.

In all, so far over 66.63 crore Aadhaar numbers have been updated following requests from residents. These update requests pertain to demographic as well as biometric updates done using physical Aadhaar centers and online Aadhaar platform, the release said.
