Over 6.63 crore Income Tax Returns filed so far for AY 2021-22

Over 6.63 Crore income tax return The tax department said in a statement that for the assessment year (AY) 2021-22 (ITRs) and around 99.27 lakh statutory forms have been filed till March 15 on the new e-filing portal of the Income Tax Department.

The Income Tax Department has expressed its gratitude to the taxpayers and tax professionals for their assistance in timely compliance.

To assist taxpayers with a smooth experience on the portal, over 8,500 taxpayer calls and 260 chats were answered by the helpdesk on March 15 alone.

The IT department said two-email IDs were created to expeditiously resolve taxpayers’ grievances related to uploading of ITR and tax audit reports and over 16,000 emails were received and most of which have been resolved.

In addition to the above, the tax department said, it is also actively engaging and reaching out for assistance with taxpayers and professionals through its official Twitter handle and through direct webex calls.

“The Department expresses its gratitude to all tax professionals and taxpayers for their support in timely compliance. Taxpayers and tax professionals are also requested to note that the last date for filing of late returns, amended returns, Aadhaar and PAN The proceedings for linking and e-assessment is March 31,” it said.
