Paddy crop insurance last date is 15 December

The last date for premium payment for Samba Paddy II Crop Insurance under the Revised Pradhan Mantri Fasal Bima Yojana is 15th December.

Virudhunagar Collector J. Meghnath Reddy said in a statement that farmers will have to submit land records, sowing report, first page copy of bank passbook, Aadhaar along with insurance proposal.

Payment can be made at e-Seva Kendras, Primary Agriculture Co-operative Societies and Nationalized Banks.

The collector said the premium for the insurance scheme is Rs 24,850 per acre, with farmers paying only 1.5% or Rs 373 per acre.

Shri Meghnath appealed to the farmers to use the insurance scheme keeping in mind the losses due to unforeseen natural calamities, insect attacks.

S. Uthandarman, Joint Director of Agriculture, Virudhunagar district said that the target is to cover 20,000 hectares of samba paddy in the district.

“Sowing has started in rain-fed areas like Narikudi, Kariyapatti and M. Reddypatti areas. Farmers in Rajapalayam, Srivilliputtur and Vatrap areas are getting ready for sowing in the hope of releasing water from the dams.

Crop insurance scheme will be implemented in all 39 firkas of the district.
