Paid all dues to AAI: AirAsia India

An airline has to pay for air navigation, landing and parking, to AAI, which is under the Ministry of Civil Aviation, to use the facilities at its airports, which number more than 100.

AirAsia India on December 29 said it has cleared all its dues to the Airports Authority of India (AAI) and the airline was making all payments as per credit terms on due dates from September 2021.

PTI had reported on 26 December that as per AAI’s internal documents, AirAsia India’s dues to AAI increased from ₹1.47 crore in January 2020 to ₹3.58 crore in October 2021.

AirAsia India spokesperson said PTI On December 29, “We have cleared all our dues as per the contract with AAI. We are making all payments as per the credit terms on due dates from September and till date there are no dues.” Operating costs always increase in proportion to the number of flights operated and the number of guests in flight, the spokesperson noted. “In this period, from September till today, we have paid Rs 59 crore within the due dates as per the policy of the airport authority,” the spokesperson said. India’s six major domestic carriers – Indigo, SpiceJet, GoAir, AirAsia India, Air India and Vistara – owe AAI ₹2,306.59 crore as on January 1, 2020, AAI documents, accessed PTI, where did it go.

These dues have increased by 14.29 per cent to Rs 2,636.34 crore as on October 31, 2021.
