Pakistan overcame batting difficulties by defeating Bangladesh in the first T20 match

Fakhar Zaman, Khushdil Shah were dismissed for 24 for four while chasing the team in the middle of the run.

Pakistan recovered from a top-order collapse to beat Bangladesh by four wickets in the first Twenty20 International of the three-match series here on Friday.

Bangladesh were restricted to 127 for seven as the hosts elected to bat. For Pakistan, fast bowler Hasan Ali took three for 22 and right-arm medium pacer Mohammad Wasim Jr took two wickets for 24 runs. Afif Hossain scored 36 runs in 34 balls for Bangladesh.

under pressure

But when Pakistan were reduced to 24 for four while chasing the target, the target looked more daunting. Mustafizur Rahman bowled Mohammad Rizwan for 11 and Taskin Ahmed dismissed Babar Azam for seven as Bangladesh put Pakistan under pressure at the start of their innings.

Haider Ali and Shoaib Malik both went for ducks, the former plumb leg first and wicketkeeper Nurul Hasan showed the presence of mind to run out the latter.

Malik was walking outside his crease after delivering a dot ball when Hasan threw it back to the stumps, and replays showed the veteran was too late to land his bat.

But Fakhar Zaman and Khushdil Shah put the team back on track with a 56-run partnership for the fifth wicket, both of whom scored 34-34 runs.

lusty war

When Shah fell, Pakistan still needed 32 runs in 3.1 overs, but Shadab Khan and Mohammad Nawaz late in the innings saw the team coming up with some blistering blows. Shadab hit the winning six to take the team to 132 for six with four balls to spare, leaving them unbeaten on 21 off just 10 balls.

The second match will be played on Saturday.

Score: Bangladesh 127/7 in 20 overs (Afif Hossain 36, Mehdi Hasan no 30, Hasan Ali 3/22) lost to Pakistan 132/6 (Fakhar Zaman 34, Khushdil Shah 34) in 19.2 overs. Pakistan won by four wickets.
