Pakistan summons US envoy to demarcate Joe Biden’s nuclear remarks – Times of India

ISLAMABAD: Pakistan on Saturday reacted strongly to US President Joe Biden’s remarks that Pakistan is one of the most dangerous countries in the world when it comes to the security of its nuclear weapons and the US in Islamabad. Summoned Ambassador Donald Blom to issue an official demarcation.
After hours Pakistan’s foreign minister Bilawal Bhutto-Zardari Spoke on this issue in detail, Prime Minister Shahbaz Sharif Hitting back at Biden, said Pakistan had proved to be a “most responsible nuclear state” in the past decades and that its nuclear program was managed through a “technically sound and foolproof command and control system”. A statement from the PMO described Biden’s comments as “factually incorrect and misleading.”
“Pakistan has also consistently demonstrated its responsible leadership” nuclear weapons capabilityMarked by a very strong commitment to global standards including IAEA (International Atomic Energy Agency) on non-proliferation, safety and security,” Sharif said.
According to the PM, the real threat to international peace and security is “hyper-nationalism, human rights violations in areas that are struggling against illegal occupation, violations of global norms by some states, repeated incidents of nuclear security, arms race between major nuclear weapon states, and the introduction of new security constructs that upset the regional balance.
Earlier, Bilawal had said in a press conference in Karachi that Pakistan’s nuclear assets “As far as the safety and security of the country’s nuclear program is concerned, meet every international standard as per IAEA. The minister pointed to the accidental missile launch by India into Pakistan on 9 March. And if there are any questions regarding security, those questions, the minister said, should be directed to India, who recently, by mistake, fired a shot. Missiles on Pakistani territory, the minister said. Not only is it irresponsible, it is not only unsafe, but also raises genuine concerns about the security of nuclear capable countries.”
Feather Islamabad’s position on UkraineBilawal explained that the country had refrained from voting for one UNGA Resolution Earlier this week, which called on countries not to recognize four territories of Ukraine that Russia claims through a referendum held in its possession, because the resolution included the language of other resolutions on which Pakistan had refrained from voting in the past.
Bilawal said he was eager to see similar concerns about India’s claim of action on Kashmir, which, according to him, was a “complete violation of international law and relevant UN resolutions”.
Meanwhile, Pakistan’s Defense Minister Khawaja Asif also issued a strong reaction to Biden’s comments, saying that Pakistan’s record as a responsible nuclear power was “immaculate and internationally certified, in contrast to the existence of WMDs in Iraq” – Claims of WMDs in Iraq referring to US claims about presence, which were later dismissed. “We have historically provided military assistance to armed forces whose commander-in-chief has mistakenly questioned our ‘cohesion’,” Asif said.
