Pakistan topped the Group 2 points table after beating Scotland by 72 runs in their last match of the Super 12 stage of the T20 World Cup in Sharjah on Sunday. After posting a mammoth total of 189/4 in their 20 overs, Pakistan restricted Scotland to 117/6 in 20 overs to seal a comprehensive victory. Pakistan’s win means they will next face Australia in the semi-finals while England will face New Zealand in the other last four matches. Earlier in the day, Shoaib Malik smashed an unbeaten 54 off 18 balls as Pakistan posted a total of 189/4. Elected to bat after winning the toss, Pakistan’s start was steady. They lost Mohammad Rizwan, Fakhar Zaman and Mohammad Hafeez but continued to add runs on the board. Captain Babar Azam hit a half-century, his fourth century of the ongoing T20 World Cup, to stage his side for a massive total before departing for a score of 66. (Achievement:)
