Panneerselvam demands increase in compensation to the families of rain victims

The AIADMK coordinator said that when the Nivar cyclone hit last year, his government had given compensation of Rs 10 lakh each to the families of those who died.

AIADMK coordinator O. Panneerselvam on Sunday demanded that the compensation amount to the next of kin of those killed due to rain in Tamil Nadu be again increased to ₹10 lakh.

Referring to Revenue Minister KKSSR Ramachandran’s alleged statement that the families of the deceased would be paid Rs 4 lakh each as compensation, Mr Panneerselvam in a statement recalled that when his party was in power, Rs 10 lakh would be paid. it was done. The state was hit by Cyclone Nivar in November last year.

He compared the current situation with the situation in the previous year and said that despite the intensity of the cyclone being higher than that of the depression that crossed the coast last week, the loss of human life was less than the previous year, which was, according to Mr. Panneerselvam, because of the “laxity” in the precautionary measures taken by the DMK regime.

The AIADMK coordinator visited the rain-hit areas of Chennai, including Perambur, RK Nagar, Egmore, Harbor and Anna Nagar assembly constituencies on the third day.
