Pant became the fastest Indian batsman to score a Test fifty when he crossed it in 28 balls on the second day of the match.

Bumrah said that Pant is becoming more experienced with each passing day.
“Not every player in the team will play with the same pace, we understand that. He is still gaining more and more experience and learning about the game. That is his plan (attack), so it is our plan. It’s a positive sign.” The fast bowler said.
Bumrah himself was instrumental in taking control of the second Test with his five-wicket haul, his first at home.
“It feels good. You have to take care of your body when you play all three formats and you miss home Tests sometimes. But it’s always good, that’s when I got the opportunity and I am able to contribute to it. The success of the team is always a good feeling.”
“Wherever you play you won’t get flat wickets”
The spin-friendly track made life difficult for the Sri Lankan batsmen, even as the Indians negotiated the tough track.
When asked what the Indian made from the track, Bumrah said, “Nobody is complaining”.
Bumrah feels that scoring runs on a track like this gives more satisfaction.

He said, ‘You always play in different conditions, every wicket will not be the same. If the bowlers get some help, then scoring runs on such wickets gives you a lot of confidence.
“Wherever you play you will not get flat wickets, so whenever this challenge comes, you always look forward to that challenge.
“Nobody is complaining about the wicket, yes everyone is finding a way out and looking to contribute because they know that if they score good runs on a tough wicket it will give them a lot of confidence and It will give them strength when they play on relatively flat wickets. So that’s the mood in our camp.”
