The Delhi Police on Monday arrested a man for allegedly beating up his 30-year-old paralyzed son, who later succumbed to his injuries, in north-west Delhi’s Bharat Nagar.
According to the police, they received a call at 1:24 pm on Sunday in which a duty constable said that a person named Paramjeet has been admitted to Deep Chand Bandhu Hospital in an unconscious condition.
On examination, the doctor declared him brought dead and the body was taken to another hospital for post-mortem.
His sister Rekha told the police that Paramjeet, a resident of JJ Colony in Wazirpur, had become paralyzed 14 years ago and had been bedridden since then.
DCP (Northwest) Usha Rangnani said Paramjeet was lying injured when Rekha came home on Sunday morning.
The DCP said, “Paramjeet told her that her father had come home last night under the influence of alcohol and had beaten her badly with a wooden stick.”
