Parameswaran Iyer appointed as the new CEO of NITI Aayog

Mr Iyer has been appointed as the Chief Executive Officer of NITI Aayog after Amitabh Kant retires on June 30, for a period of two years or until further orders, whichever is earlier, the order said.

Mr Iyer has been appointed as the Chief Executive Officer of NITI Aayog after Amitabh Kant retires on June 30, for a period of two years or until further orders, whichever is earlier, the order said.

According to a government order, Parameswaran Iyer, former drinking water and sanitation secretary, was appointed as the new CEO of NITI Aayog on June 24. He had resigned from his post in July last year.

Mr Iyer, a 1981-batch IAS officer of the Uttar Pradesh cadre and a renowned sanitation expert, appointed as the Chief Executive Officer of NITI Aayog for two years or until further orders, whichever is the case, after Amitabh Kant retires on June 30 has been done. The first is, stated in the order.

The Personnel Ministry order said that Iyer has been appointed on the same terms and conditions as were applicable to Mr. Kant. Mr. Iyer took voluntary retirement from the Indian Administrative Service in 2009. He had also worked as a senior rural water sanitation specialist at the United Nations.
