Parents demand renewal of classes to start class 11 at Ponmalai Kendriya Vidyalaya

Parents of students studying in Kendriya Vidyalaya at Ponmalai in Tiruchi urged the concerned authorities to take measures to renovate four classrooms to start Class 11 from the academic year 2023-24.

The Kendriya Vidyalaya at Ponmalai is functioning from a century-old building of Southern Railway since 2016-17 and has over 500 students studying in classes I to X. Due to space constraints, only one section per class is functioning with approximately 55 students. ,

Keeping the situation in mind, the parents have approached the school authorities and urged them to renovate the existing four classes to start class 11th from the academic year 2023-24. This year around 40 students will appear in the class 10 public exam.

According to a representation made by parents to the authorities, the first batch of Class 10 students who appeared for the public examination last year faced inconvenience in finding a suitable school for higher secondary education.

“Only three students from the Ponmalai campus were admitted to other Kendriya Vidyalaya campuses in the city as the management gives priority to their students. Other students faced difficulties in getting admission in private institutions and were forced to pay a huge amount as fee,” said parent R.K. Manivasan said.

When contacted, the officials said that they would need around four classes to start Class 11.

Parents of the students have also expressed concern over the delay in construction of a new campus and have voiced the need for the opening of the second block.
