Prime Minister Narendra Modi wore a sleeveless jacket made from recycled material from plastic bottles to Parliament on Wednesday.

Officials said that the jacket Modi wore was made of recycled material from plastic bottles.

The jacket was presented to him by the Indian Oil Corporation India Energy Week in Bengaluru On Monday when Mr. Modi launched the uniform as part of the company’s “Unbottle” initiative.

In line with their call to eliminate single-use plastic, IndianOil has adopted uniforms made of recycled polyester (RPET) and cotton for retail customer attendants and LPG delivery personnel, officials said.

Each set of IndianOil customer attendant uniform will support recycling of approximately 28 used PET bottles. PSU is taking this initiative forward through “Unbottled”, a brand for sustainable clothing launched for merchandise made from recycled polyester.

Under this brand, the oil giant aims to cater to the requirement of uniforms for customer attendants of other oil marketing companies, non-combat uniforms for the military, uniforms and dress for institutions and sales to retail customers.
