Prabhu Deva pays tribute to late actor Puneet Rajkumar

Choreographer and director Prabhu Deva on Saturday paid his last farewell to late actor Puneeth Rajkumar at the Sri Kanteerava Stadium in Bengaluru. Son of legendary actor Rajkumar, Puneet left for his heavenly abode at the age of 46 following a cardiac arrest. He was admitted to Vikram Hospital in Bengaluru following chest pain, where he breathed his last. His body was shifted for public viewing to the Sri Kanteerava Stadium, where a large number of fans gathered to pay their last respects to their favorite actor.

Heavy police force has also been deployed at the stadium to control the crowd. Choreographer and director Prabhu Deva also reached the stadium to pay his last respects to the ‘Appu’ actor. Speaking to the media, the 48-year-old star expressed grief over the untimely demise of his late friend. “It’s a very sad day. I don’t have words to explain this loss, I’m empty right now.”

Prabhu Deva revealed that his parents were also close to the late actor and even they are unable to digest the sad news. The Kannada star’s mortal remains were shifted to Bangalore’s Sree Kanteerava Stadium for public viewing on Friday evening, ahead of his funeral, which will be performed with state honors soon after his daughter’s arrival from the US. Bengaluru Police Commissioner Kamal Pant said at the stadium on Saturday that the next phase of security arrangements would be made based on the decision taken by Puneet’s family. His family will decide on when the last rites will be performed. Probably the last rites will be done today. Puneet’s demise shook the entire nation and many popular actors from Bollywood and South film industry including Dhanush, Mahesh Babu, Jr NTR, Ram Charan, Abhishek Bacchan, Anil KapoorIncluding others have expressed condolences.

Apart from this, other famous politicians, including Prime Minister Narendra Modi and Karnataka Chief Minister Basavaraj S Bommai, Rahul Gandhi, Prakash Javadekar and Nirmala Sitharaman Condoled his death as well. Son of matinee idol Rajkumar, who was also fondly called ‘Appu’ and ‘Power Star’ by his fans, Puneet was associated with the silver screen since childhood.

The 46-year-old actor has been a lead star in 29 films since his acting debut in 2002 in “Appu”, his last release was “Yuvratna”, which came out in April earlier this year. His other notable performances include ‘Rama’, ‘Hudugaru’ and ‘Anjani Putra’.
