Sunrisers Hyderabad (SRH) pacer Umran Malik breathes fire during the match against Punjab Kings (PBKS) at Dr. Di Patil Sports Academy in Mumbai on Sunday, April 17. Young Turks bowled brilliantly in the death overs and finished with figures of 4-1-28-4. He also became the fourth bowler to bowl a maiden in the 20th over of the IPL.

The pacer opens the over with the wicket of Odion Smith, who skis one. Thereafter, the speedster cast Rahul Chahar and Vaibhav Arora to take the hat-trick. PBKS led by Shikhar Dhawan took a wicket on the next ball but was run out.

Malik, who made his IPL debut in UAE last season, said that he enjoys bowling in the scorching heat and is used to playing in such conditions. He also talked about focusing on his line and length and strategy while bowling to the PBKS batsmen.

‘Full and straight’

“Needs some time (to feel what he’s done). In Jammu, it usually gets up to 47 or 48 degrees, so it doesn’t matter (the heat), it’s really cool to play this summer I think my line and length have gotten better in the last few days. The plan was to keep it full and straight, and straight out in that channel,” Malik was quoted as saying.

Umran is also one of the three wicket-takers to bowl a maiden in the last over during the first innings of an IPL match. Irfan Pathan and Jaydev Unadkat are the other two bowlers.

Malik’s brilliance ensured that SRH restricted the Punjab team to 151. Apart from his wickets in the final over, the pacer also dismissed Jitesh Sharma. Bhuvneshwar Kumar supported him and took three wickets for 22 runs.
