“People Are Still Aware Of Dark Days”: BJP’s Jibe At Congress Ahead Of Karnataka Elections

Bharatiya Janata Party national general secretary BL Santhosh on Wednesday hit out at former chief minister and senior Congress leader Siddaramaiah, terming his tenure as the “most corrupt, unwise and Hindu-hating government in the history of Karnataka”.

His remarks came in response to Mr Siddaramaiah’s statement claiming that “the Congress will come to power with a comfortable majority” in the state.

The BJP leader took to Twitter and said, “He (Siddaramaiah) led the most corrupt, indecisive and Hindu-hating government in the history of Karnataka. The public still remembers those dark days and then a few months of coalition drama. Voters @ Made up our mind to give a decisive mandate to BJP4Karnataka.”

Earlier on Tuesday, Siddaramaiah had alleged that several BJP leaders in the state had resigned from the party and joined the Congress.

“With a comfortable majority, the Congress will come to power. As Surjewala said, many MLAs, MLCs and chairpersons of boards and corporations have resigned from the BJP and joined the Congress. Everyone in Karnataka knows that the wave Congress is in favor. The BJP high command knows very well that the party is sinking and it cannot come to power in the state. Politics of hate and Hindutva is not going to work in the coming Karnataka elections,” he said.

Assembly elections are due in Karnataka on May 10 and the counting of votes will take place on May 13.

Currently, the ruling BJP has 119 MLAs out of 224 seats in the Karnataka Assembly, while the Congress has 75 and the JD(S) 28.
