Manchester City has become the latest English football team to say they will change the color of their women’s team shorts in response to players’ concerns about wearing white during their periods.

Recently, both West Brom and Stoke, after consultation with the players, have announced to switch to navy and red shorts respectively for their women’s sides.

And City manager Gareth Taylor said last week that his team needed to look into the issue, announcing on Tuesday that white shorts would no longer be featured as part of the club’s women’s team kit from the 2023/24 season. .

A statement from kit makers Puma and Manchester City said: “Due to feedback from players and the underlying theme of women wanting to abstain from wearing white shorts during their periods, we decided to implement changes to those products. What we offer for ourselves. Female players.

“From the 2023/24 season, we will no longer provide our female athletes with white shorts.”

The issue of white shorts for female athletes resurfaced, while the England women’s team won the European Championships in July playing in all-white kits.

At the time, the English Football Association stated that players would continue to wear white shorts, but that the changing colors would be “taken into account for future designs”.
